Comprehensive Evaluation

Your comprehensive evaluation is designed to fully assess your body's hormonal production and your rate of aging.  There are three components:

Part I: Laboratory Evaluation

Before you visit our offices, you will be directed to a laboratory to have a set of blood tests done so that they are ready when your physician sees you.  This set of tests is as follows:

Hormones of Aging

  • Insulin-like growth factor-I (IGF-I)
  • Insulin-like growth factor binding protein-3 (IGFBP-3)
  • Testosterone, Free and Total
  • Estradiol
  • Estrone Sulfate
  • Sex-Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG)
  • Insulin, Fasting
  • DHEA Sulfate
  • Luteinizing Hormone (LH)
  • TSH, T3 free & T4
  • Prolactin
  • Cortisol, AM

Basic Disease Screening Tests

  • Chemistry panel
    • Electrolytes: sodium, potassium, chloride, bicarbonate, calcium
    • Bilirubin, AST/ALT, albumin, alkaline phosphatase, LDH
    • Total protein and globulins
    • Creatinine, blood urea nitrogen
    • Glucose
  • Complete Blood Count (CBC)
  • Lipid Panel
    • Total cholesterol
    • High density lipoprotein (HDL)
    • Low density lipoprotein (LDL)
    • Triglycerides
  • Vitamin D
  • PSA (Prostate-Specific Antigen)

Non-traditional cardiac risk factors

  • C-reactive protein (CRP), High-sensitivity
  • Homocysteine
  • Ferritin
  • Iron, total iron binding capacity, transferrin saturation
  • CoEnzymeQ10

Once these labs are completed (about 21 days) you will be ready for your initial consultation.

Part II: Biomarker Testing

PhysioAge Systems is a battery of extensively tested biomarkers of the health of important physiological systems.  We use them to establish a baseline of physiological aging, a "PhysioAge", and then to follow how well their programs are working over time.  This is really the crux of the difference between our approach to managing aging and that of most other practices.  The following tests are conducted before your initial consultation and annually thereafter:

Optional tests (add'l fee applies):

Part III: Initial Consultation, Medical History and Physical Exam

Before this 2-hour office evaluation you will fill out a questionnaire designed to detect any underlying conditions that need to be addressed.   You will then meet with your physician to go over your medical history and undergo a physical exam.  Your laboratory results, history, biomarkers and exam will then be used to design a personalized program tailored specifically to your needs and physiology.  You will then  discuss the expected benefits and risks of your program as well as its administration.  Custom-compounded medications will be shipped to you the next day.
